Longwe Twala, the son of legendary music producer Sello “Chicco” Twala, has been given a second chance after failing to appear in court earlier this month. Longwe had been arrested for allegedly stealing from his father, but his no-show in court prompted the judge to issue a warrant for his arrest.
Longwe’s lawyers explained that their client had been genuinely ill and unable to attend the court hearing. According to Longwe, he had instructed an aunt to inform his lawyers about his absence, but unfortunately, she forgot to pass on the message.
The judge, after careful consideration, accepted Longwe’s explanation, deeming it a “reasonable excuse” for his failure to appear. The court also noted that there was no evidence to suggest that Longwe had intentionally broken any rules or disregarded the court’s authority.
As a result, the warrant for Longwe’s arrest was withdrawn, and he was given a new court date to answer to the charges against him.
The Twala family, known for their contributions to the South African music industry, has been dealing with their fair share of challenges in recent times.
