The last standing member of the Kwaito group Chiskop, Simphiwe General Sibisi has passed away at the age of 49.
His family released a statement on 29 September 2024 and said, “The family of Simphiwe General GTZ Sibisi announces with deep sadness our great loss suffered through the passing of our dear one after hospitalisation where he underwent a major surgery.
Despite showing some signs of recovery, he took a turn for the worse over the past few days and finally lost his brave battle earlier today, 29 September 2024.
We wish to thank all those who loved and supported him during his years as a prominent and pioneering Music Entertainer if our beloved South African people. May his beautiful, kind spirit live on through the legacy of his Kwaito music.
