Nyiko Floyd Shivambu was born on 1 January 1983 in Limpopo. He is one of seven children. His parents were Constance and Elias and they were informal traders.
He went to Mphambo High School in Malamulele. In 2001, he went to study at the University of Wits where he obtained a Bachelors degree and an Honours degree in Political studies and International Relations. In 2004, h3 obtained a Masters degree in Political Studies.
During his third year of university, he was elected to the student representative body and joined the ANC Youth league. He was also the deputy president of the EFF.
In 2017, he married Siphesihle Pezi and they have a daughter named Katekani Shivambu. Shivambu eqs implicated in the VBS Bank Mutual scandal but most recently he made the headlines after he resigned from the EFF and joined the MK Party.
