Leslie Jonathan Mampe Jnr was born on the 26th of July 1985. He is better known by his stage name Da LES. He is a South African artist and record producer. He achieved early success with the group Jozi and is most known for his solo single “Heaven” which was released in 2013 and featured the late AKA and Maggz.
He was born in Washington, DC. His parents are Leslie Jonathan Mampe, an IT specialist and Priscilla Mampe. In 2014, he starred in the Real Jozi A-Listers alongside Maps Maponyane. He is married to Aurea Alexander and they welcomed a daughter in 2013. Her godfather was the late AKA while Da LES is Kairo’s godfather.
He attended the University of Johannesburg. In 2008, his album Fresh O Def was nominated in the SAMA and MAMA awards. He is also part of Love and Hip Hop SA which features artists like DJ Speedsta, J Molley, Gigi Lamayne m, Yanga Chief, Shane Eagle and others.
The debut episode was on 27 February 2023. Currently Da LES is making the headlines after news broke that he had suffered a stroke on the 26th of July 2024. He has been hospitalised and his family has asked for prayers.
