Dumi Mkostad as he is widely known was born as Mdumiseni Nzimande on 7 May 1992 in South Africa. He is a gospel musician. He grew up with two brothers and sisters. He started his career as a prodigy at the age of 11 in 2003 when he released his first album Dumi Mkostad.
He has worked with other artists such as the Jaziel Brothers, Hlengiwe Mhlaba, Bethusile, Thinah Zungu and many others. In 2018, he released Ebeke Walunga uThixo which won him some accolades. He got married to his wife, Ziphozenkosi Mthembu on the 6th of June 2019.
He proposed to her in the Eastern Cape after a long friendship that lasted 12 years. He won the Best Gospel Song of the Crown Gospel Awards in 2015 and Best Gospel Song of the SABC Crown Gospel Awards in 2018. Dumi has, two children with his wife, a daughter born in 2022 and a son born in September 2023.
He once made headlines after women showed up claiming to be his wives. In December of 2022, he was accused of sleeping with other men to get rich but he denied this.
