ANC Secretary General Fikile Mbalula says that impeached Judge John Hlophe should not sit on the Judicial Service Commission (JSC). Hlophe who is the MK party caucus leader in Parliament was picked earlier this month to represent the National Assembly in the JSC.
On Monday, Fikile Mbalula said that he is not against Hlophe however it does not make sense that he sits on the JSC yet he was impeached for gross misconduct. “It is wrong that you have been impeached and sit on the committee and ask judges about the wrongdoings you yourself have committed.
How do you do that, because a political party you belong to has decided you must sit there and question others? It is morally bankrupt and incorrect,” he said.
Mbalula further stated that if he were in the party he wouldn’t have chosen Hlophe but given who Zuma is, he would do that. Hlophe’s appointment is being challenged by the DA and Afriforum.
