Residents of Diepsloot in Johannesburg blocked roads with barricades in protest against crime in their communities.

They barricaded the busy N14 highway that connects Pretoria and Krugersdorp. They used burning tyres and debris to block the busy road.

The Diepsloot residents burnt down shops in and around the township. The protest comes after the chair of their CPF, John Makola was shot and killed.

Atleast Six people have been killed this month alone and the residents are saying the police are failing in fighting crime.

Residents told the media that protesting will continue until President Cyril Ramaphosa comes to Diepsloot to address them.
