Captain Annabel Vundla and First Officer Refilwe Moreetsi made history by becoming South African Airways’s first Black Female Pilots.

This was a first in the airline’s 88 years of existence. Annabel joined the South African National Defence Forces after Matric which she served for two years.

She then joined the South African Air force before becoming a Presidential pilot.

On the other hand Refilwe Moreetsi obtained a certificate in military studies and later a Bachelor of Military Science at Stellenbosch University. She then joined the South African Air force in 2006.

In 2022 the two were announced during a press briefing held at Cape Town International Airport that they have joined SAA as the first Black Female Pilots to ever fly the planes.
