SABC NEWS reported that the ANC Deputy Secretary General Jessie Duarte has died after a battle with cancer, she was 68.
The ANC has issued a statement in which they paid tribute to Duarte, describing her as a tower of strength to the party.
The ANC said her passing was a great loss to the democratic movement and the country as a whole.
At the time of her passing Duarte was serving as Deputy Secretary General of the ANC since 2012, and has been a member of its National Committee since 2002.

She will be buried this afternoon in Johannesburg, according to Muslim rights. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
