Reeva Steenkamp’s parents will soon meet Oscar Pistorius, the man who killed their daughter. The Steenkamp family will get the opportunity to discuss the murder.

Oscar Pistorius will be transferred to St Alban’s  Prison in Nelson Mandela Bay ahead of the meeting which is part of the victim-offender dialogue programme.

The award winning runner shot his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp through a closed bathroom door on Valentines day, the 14th of February in 2013.

He was found guilty of culpable homicide in 2014 but the verdict was overturned on appeal. Pistorius was then charged with the murder of his girlfriend.

The Correctional Services spokesperson, Singabakho Nxumalo revealed that offenders participate in the victim-offender dialogue as it is part of their rehabilitation journey.

He said the offenders needed to acknowledge the damage they have caused to their victims and the community as a whole.
