It is alleged that Minister of Health, Dr Zweli Mkhize is involved in the R150 million tender scandal. Last week Dr Zweli Mkhize denied that he benefited from a R150 million contract that was awarded to Digital Vibes.
However it was reported that the company settled invoice for maintenance work on some property owned by his family trust.
According to the Daily Maverick, Digital Vibes did not only pay for the maintenance work at Zweli Mkhize’s property but also transferred atleast R300 000 to a company owned by Zweli Mkhize’s son in May 2020.
The Daily Maverick says the Department of Health paid services linked to the National Health Insurance programme and the government’s response to Covid-19.
The Minister’s wife is reported to be one of the trustees, however she denied having any knowledge that Digital Vibes paid outstanding invoices for the work done.
Allegedly Dr Zweli Mkhize’s former PA and former spokesperson are in control of this company. The contract is alleged to have been awarded without following the public finance management guidelines.
