In a Shocking development, young women from the ANC Greater Alexandra Zone 13 district yesterday demonstrated in support of a r_ape accused councillor.
While the official position of the ANC was go condemn the councillor, the youth league openly defied that position and had their own demonstration away from the women ‘s league group which was demonstration in support of the victim.
Kenneth Mgaga (36), an ANC Councilor in the Joburg City Council, has requested a paid leave of absence after appearing in court for r_aping a 28 year old woman at his house on 26 December.
Mgaga was arrested on 1 January 2021 and appeared at the Wynberg Magistrates court on 4 January.
The circumstances around the case are that on 25 December, the woman spent the night at Mgaga’s house, and he r_aped her on the morning of the 26th of January.
On 27 December, the woman went to see the doctor who examined her but could not determine any visible injuries.
ANC Youths in Alexandra are blaming party leadership for framing Mgaga and demonstrated in his support during the court hearing.
Mgaga was released on R2000 bail and the case was postponed to February.
